About me

I moved to the Pacific Northwest from the East Coast at 19, and immediately felt at home amidst the stunning landscapes of water and trees. The natural beauty of this place has since become an endless source of inspiration.

Growing up, I never considered myself an artist. Art was something I enjoyed, but like many, it was always seen as a hobby rather than a true vocation. Over the years, I explored various creative outlets, from tile mosaics to sewing, but never quite found something that deeply resonated with me.

After spending a majority of my career working in the high-tech industry, I decided to leave in 2019 and explore new possibilities.  In 2021, I discovered marquetry through an online class. The idea of creating art with wood, without the need for a full woodworking shop, appealed to me. I was immediately hooked, spending countless hours at my kitchen island, cutting and piecing together wooden veneers into beautiful, intricate compositions.

Though I no longer work at the kitchen island, the thrill of assembling each piece still drives my creativity. Marquetry offers me endless opportunities to explore textures, depth, and contrast by combining various woods and grains. For me, it’s like assembling a puzzle without a picture to guide me—an exciting challenge that allows for constant discovery. I love taking this ancient craft, traditionally used in furniture-making, and reimagining it in a modern context.
